New Research Staff
Welcome to Northwestern University's Center for Comparative Medicine (CCM)
Before gaining access to CCM animal facilities, all new research staff must complete an orientation class and be approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) on an Animal Study Protocol (ASP).
Orientation classes are comprised of classroom presentations, facility tours, and a hands-on euthanasia course for rodent users. Orientations are held on both campuses, every week.
Researchers must contact the CCM Training Office to register for an orientation located on the campus where they will be performing their work. Researchers are not allowed to participate in an orientation if they are not registered for that session. Researchers must arrive promptly, or they may be required to reschedule their training session. The orientation schedule is as follows:
Chicago Campus, Lurie Orientation
Evanston Campus, Evanston Orientation
Below you will find campus and species specific checklists to guide new researchers through the process of being trained, added to an ASP, and granted access to CCM facilities.
Chicago and Evanston Campuses
Please contact the CCM Training Office if you are a new researcher working with amphibians or fish.
If you have any questions about this process, please contact CCM Training Office at 312-503-2758.
